About Us

Turner Inn is a privately owned (non franchise), 1950's style motel reminiscent of those made famous
by Route 66. Mountainair and Turner's
are at the geographic center of New Mexico, at an elevation
of 6500'.
Situated on historic US Highway 60, one of the earliest (1926) US coast-to-coast highways,
we are 2 hours from Santa Fe by either Interstate or the historic Salt Missions and Turquoise Trails,
and 1-1/2 hours to the Albuquerque Airport.

We are known for our clean rooms, and unique "step back in time" ambiance. Many guests refer to our
rooms as like a "return to Grandma's house." We count many regularly returning guests among
"Snowbirds" and other repeat visitors to the Southwest.

Don't forget to ask us about local events and nearby sights.

About the Shaffer

The Shaffer Hotel, widely recognized for its striking Pueblo Deco (Southwest Art Deco) and original
Folk Art décor, was built in 1923 by Clem “Pop” Shaffer, who moved to Mountainair in 1908. The
landmark Hotel has recently been remodeled, preserving its traditional charm and historical importance
while combining contemporary accommodations with old fashioned elegance.

The Shaffer can accommodate you. The hotel features 19 rooms, from simple “cowboy rooms” to double

Amenities include complimentary Continental breakfast, full service restaurant, 80 seat convention room,

game room with pool tables, and
a large, inviting outdoor park - picturebook green & tall tree shaded -
with stone firepit for convivial evening campfires, an Art Deco Gazebo, and a covered patio for outdoor
dining or just hanging out.

Check out "art enhanced" events at the the Shaffer Hotel (a work of art itself). TThe Shaffer actively supports
local art and artists and the community of Mountainair by hosting major events such as Annual Poets & Writers
Picnic and
a Summer Concert Series
, as well as being a central venue for community wide events.
